Joshua & Katelynd: A Big Spring Farm Wedding | Lexington Virginia
Lexington Wedding Venues | Big Spring Farm | Barn Wedding
The Noah to her Allie, the Jack to her Rose.
No one’s vows have made me cry with happiness outside of my own like Katelynd & Joshua’s personal vows to each other. To love each other through the moments they enjoy now until they are old and gray. UGH.. I just can’t explain it to you.
Their August wedding at Big Spring Farm started by exchanging gifts to each other and getting ready with their loved ones. As Katelynd made her entrance into their ceremony via his grandfather’s antique car, each detail to their day stood out above the rest. From natural colors like terra cotta and different shades of green to several DIY projects like their jar seating chart, feather aisle/table decor & more, I couldn’t help myself but show off all the creativity in the pictures below.
Nestled under oaks & weeping willows, this Virginia boy & Ohio gal promised forever together in front of their favorite people. They are the best of friends and in their letters to each other, they both mentioned how they prayed for each other and it is without doubt! His humor matches her laughter, their hands fit perfectly together and the simple looks they give to one another spews commitment and understanding.
Surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, a natural spring, loved ones and angels from above, the Lexington wedding venue they chose was full of remembrance and joy! Back in 2008, Joshua’s dad passed away but Katelynd wouldn’t let that stop him from being present. During our portrait time together, she revealed a patch of her father-in-law’s shirt she had embroidered into her dress. Again, one of the many details that truly represented this couple’s love and dedication for each other.
With all the sentimental moments pushed to the beginning of the day, we walked into the reception with an upbeat attitude! The intros their wedding party chose were full of personality. Each could had a new skit - ones I had never seen before and then Mr. & Mrs. Fleshman entered the room! Talk about a welcome! Going straight into their first dance, I couldn’t help but focus on the flawless twirls and intimate forehead kisses.
Before we knew it, our time for sunset portraits was rapidly approaching and storms were starting to roll in. Having a DIY photo booth set up beside their Lexington wedding venue, we started there where we recreated a picture from Katelynd’s parents wedding of their rings (see below) before going up to the hill to capture some incredible shots with the storms rolling over Hogback Mountain!
One of the main things Katelynd & Joshua wanted for their wedding day was a grand exit. However, the rain had other plans… like POURING RAIN plans. As the end of the night drew near, we continually refreshed the radar to see when we would catch a tiny break in the pouring rain. Thankfully, it happened and we jumped in the back of Joshua’s grandfather’s car for some pictures and proceeded to run through their sparkler exit before the rain came back! With a little more partying to enjoy, we went back inside to dance before saying goodbye. If you know me though… I love a good “end” shot. So I grabbed Katelynd & Joshua and asked them if they trusted me. Of course, they said yes and within seconds, they were taking off their shoes and jumping into puddles on gravel. YEP! It was the most perfect way to end their barn wedding and I will truly never forget this sweet couple! WARNING…. there are A LOT of pictures below so grab your favorite drink/snack and enjoy!
