Josh & Katelynd: Winter Adventure Engagement in Shenandoah National Park | Appalachian Mountains | Virginia Elopement Photographer

Frozen. I've never really given this word any thought until the morning Joshua, Katelynd & I ventured to Cole Mountain in Shenandoah National Park. When something is put out of its limits, it changes form and during their Shenandoah National Park engagement session, we were frozen and pushed way beyond our limits!
Having already traveled from Columbus, Ohio for their engagement shoot, Katelynd & Joshua woke up at 2:30a to get ready, travel even more and then hike up to witness the most gorgeous sunrise creep up the Blue Ridge Mountains. From the pictures, you can't tell but we were STRUGGLING with around 10 degree weather & strongly unwanted winds! They pushed through the pain though (yes, it was painful) and now that we can feel our bodies again and stop shaking because we're so cold, we can laugh at the things we had to do that morning to make it happen! With a bunch of hand warmers, constant coat grabbing, the occasional huddling together and ICE crunching under the soles of our shoes... I will be forever grateful of these two & their dedication and trust. Since then, I’ve had several clients want this gorgeous Appalachian Mountain view behind them for their own engagement session or Virginia elopement and I’m not mad about it! Each day that passes, this view grows into something different!
Shenandoah National Park Engagement
Can we please take a moment to “oogle” this couple?! Don’t get me wrong, I definitely focus on my grooms but gosh oh gosh, I couldn’t help but focus on my gorgeous bride-to-be at the beginning! That wind combed through Katelynd’s hair and paraded through her dress naturally for their Shenandoah National Park engagement at Cole Mountain that I didn’t have Josh do much if anything at all other than stand confidently with his blushing woman! Peep those chill bumps in the picture above, I’m not joking when I said we were freezing!
Cole Mountain
It’s hard to beat that flowing orange dress but, we decided to change into something with a little more coverage to snuggle in! While still extremely cold, these two wiggled into jeans and helped each other with buttons before snuggling to watch the sun rise higher and higher. The view at Cole Mountain is one that will truly take your breath away and whether you’re in an intimate setting or a playful state of mind, its an incredible location for an engagement or Virginia elopement!
Appalachian Mountains
As the sun rose, we decided to make our way back down the mountain and laughed while we skipped to our cars towards the promise of warmth! While those rolling Appalachian Mountains at Cole Mountain are something to treasure, this is just one of my favorite locations near Shenandoah National Park!
