David and Allie: A Sunrise Trash the Dress Session at The Cape, A Thompson Hotel | Cabo San Lucas | Mexico Destination Wedding Photographer

When David & Allie told me they wanted to have an intimate wedding in Cabo San Lucas, my first question was “do you want to get in the water and trash the dress”?! It’s not everyone’s vision to jump in the ocean/pool, play in the sand and climb rocks barefoot in their wedding dress but its one of those questions I always ask as a destination wedding photographer because it’s another reason to make their trip so unique. We travel to celebrate, why not make the most of it, especially when we’re at a prestigious location like The Cape, A Thompson Hotel!

The morning after their intimate wedding, we met at sunrise to adventure and play around. Los Cabos is by far one of my favorite places on earth and those soft sunrises get me every time. With a soft but warm breeze brushing through the palm trees and the roar of the waves crashing, it’s tranquil and exciting meshed perfectly together. Fuel to this photographer’s wandering heart!

We started by walking down the beach and enjoying the view of the famous Cabo Arches. However, this is the turning point for my trip with Allie & David. Not only did they climb a very abrasive rock formation for me and play in the sand but, we made the plunge and got wet. At first, they flirted and playfully splashed each other. However, the splashing quickly became a deeper commitment when one swell came to close and ended in nothing but sweet laughter! From there, there was no going back so we seized the moment and “trashed” that unforgettable Australian designer dress not only in the ocean but in the pool. I’ve never laughed so hard in my life and that’s a fact. Don’t worry, the dress wasn’t truly trashed, just extremely heavy and wet! It was hard choosing our favorites but I hope these make you feel like you’re right there with us!
