Dustin & Emily: A Blue Ridge Parkway Elopement In Shenandoah National Park | Ravens Roost | Virginia Elopement Photographer

The weather… such an unnoticeable feature until it pushes us to break through limitations and take our talent to new heights (pun intended).
Showered with love & actual rain, Emily & Dustin braved the stormy weather on the Blue Ridge Parkway to celebrate the best day of their lives… their elopement at Ravens Roost Overlook! Although our plans were flexible, this exact date marked 10 years of them being together, so we knew we had to make it happen rain or shine!
After waiting patiently, they made the decision to get dressed in separate cars and then venture to the cliff for their first look! Within minutes, the rain fell harder, the Blue Ridge Mountains disappeared in the clouds and the winds whipped, forcing us back to our vehicles. Patience is a virtue though and finally, the weather broke free! At one point, the sun even made a small appearance during their ceremony with minimal family. The situational irony of "weathering the storms together" was present and we have the pictures to prove it. Emily and her colorful bouquet popped in front of those rolling mountains and she became a proud member of the dirty dress club!
Through the rain and fog, these two were able to laugh through the stress and enjoy the small moments while eloping in Virginia. It's a reminder from above that faith, hope & love never fail. Days like theirs are my favorite. From the simplicity of their rings sitting in baby puddles, to the moment she chose to walk barefoot on a cliff.
It’s inspiring!
After playing in the rain, we took a minute to readjust their soaking wet attire, set up a small cocktail space with homemade cookies and welcome their family! The best thing about eloping on a weekday in the mountains, in the rain, is there were no onlookers, just their handpicked guests!
Surrounded by their favorite people and that gorgeous view of Shenandoah National Park, their Blue Ridge Parkway elopement was a fairytale!
