Hawaiian Memories: Day 2
It's here - Day 2! But who am I kidding, day 1 didn't really count due to traveling...
After a sleepless first night, I was ready to see the island. I will admit, I had doubts. I found myself in the same depressing slump I experienced when I traveled to Japan BUT, I quickly told myself that this trip was WAAAAY different! Therefore, I woke up early, took a selfie with my real lei (still awesome) and was determined to maximize all my time in the best state imaginable! First - I immediately got ready for a morning run around Jordan & Zach's neighborhood. I was amazed at how different a morning run could be from Virginia to Hawaii. I found flowers & put them in my hair, I found myself wanting my camera at ALL TIMES while running & the weather was perfect.
By the time I got back from my morning run (or frolic around the neighborhood), it was time to get ready to go to Waikiki! In the months before I had arrived, us girls starting getting a list together of all the things we wanted to do. Starr isn't much of a boat person so we decided to knock this activity off the bucket list before she arrived - it was amazing! Zach & Jordan had signed us up for a "booze cruise" that took maybe 2 hours but was one of the best things I enjoyed during the entire trip. We boarded the catamaran, sailed out a couple miles out from the island & then got a drink & floated. If you know me, I'm a water person. I love the ocean, I love fish & I absolutely love boats. When someone says "go to your happy place" - this was it. Unfortunately, I did not take my professional camera due to "being on boat" so bare with me on the point-and-shoot/iphone camera quality. Side note: our captains were awesome! One was from Ohio and was super hilarious (pictured with me). He picked up on my southern accent pretty quick after I said "Y'all"....
After our booze cruise, we walked to the famous Pink Hotel and piddled at Waikiki Beach. After that, we headed back to the house to chill out and spend some quality time with Kona-bear. The sand was hot & we were extremely tired so I don't remember much of the first day after the booze cruise (but this blog is also a year & a half delayed so....). ENJOY!
